Denton's Surgery
Today was Denton's hernia surgery. Doug and I had to have him in Chapel Hill by 6:30 so we left around 4 am. Which of course means that I only got about 2 hours of sleep thanks to my beloved son's unpredictable sleeping habits. After checking in at the Children's Hospital the nurse came to prep him. They took him back about 7:30 and to my surprise I did pretty well. I think it was because he wasn't crying or screaming. That would have made it much harder. Doug and I went downstairs and grabbed some breakfast to make the time pass quicker. He got out of surgery about 9am and went to recovery. Then the nurse came and got me (only one of us could go back there) and took me back to see him. Of course he was starving, having not eaten since 1:30 and crying very groggily. It took him a while to come around but he's doing very well and hopefully not having much pain thanks to some liquid Tylenol. We have a follow up visit in two weeks to make sure everything is healing correctly. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts!

This is just a little note to let you know what is going on with Denton. Doug and I found a swollen spot in his groin last Tuesday. After going to the doctor, we found out that he has a hernia that will need surgery to correct. We will be going to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Monday to meet with a pediatric surgeon. Even though this is a fairly common thing, when it is your baby it is very daunting. He had also all of a sudden started screaming in pain and stiffening his stomach. While we were at the doctor I asked about this as well. He said he has acid reflux and gave us some medication for it. Please pray that all goes well at the consultation on Monday and that the coming surgery will be uneventful.
Trip to Missouri
Last weekend, Doug, Denton, and I made the trip to Missouri for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. This was also the first time they had seen Denton. We had a really good time and enjoyed seeing everyone! Denton did pretty well on the airplanes. He slept through most of them.

Denton's First Playdate
Today Denton had his first official playdate. I went walking with my friend Kelly, who had her baby two days before I had Denton. Her little girl is named Jacki and weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces. So, of course, Denton looks huge compared to her! Enjoy the pictures!

Richmond Canal Trail
Today was Denton's first out of state trip(We only live 5 minutes from the Virginia border!) Doug is taking the seniors in our church on a canal cruise next week in downtown Richmond. Because he was unfamiliar with Richmond we decided to take a trip to scope it out. It was a rainy day, but the pictures turned out pretty good. We couldn't get Denton to wake up so he's sleeping in most of them!
